Manuel, CTO of Grup Pegaso since 1998, moved to Cancún in 2009 in order to develop a Smart and Connected Community in an eco-friendly environment in Tulúm with fiber connectivity into to the NAP of the Americas in the USA. Currently he is also Chairman of the Board of Panamsat de México, partner to Intelsat for satellite services over Mexico (26 satellites)
He has worked for over 22 years in Televisa participating in start, ups, including the coordination design and acquisition of the first two Mexican satellites, as well as coordination television production facilities to optimize finished product. Some of his highlights include team member for the organization of the Soccer World Cup in 1986 and the Pope John Paul II visits to Mexico. Additionally he was a coordinator for the rescue efforts and Operation control of Televisa through out the earthquake and aftermath in 1985.
Some of his other activities included participation in the formation of the first Spanish TV network over the US (SIN/UNIVISION), as well as a vital team member of the Group that broke Comsat´s and Intelsat´s satellite monopoly in the world and formed Panamsat to compete against Intelsat.
Previously, Manuel was the director of several entities in Mexico, as well as founder of them, including Digisat (Teleports), Cablevisión (cable TV) Satelat (Satellite services), Protele (TV distribution over Latin America), Omnitracs (satellite visats for trailers, Skytel (paging), and more recently Pegaso PCS, second cellular provider of Mexico, known today as Telefonica Movistar, Grupo Wcom, (satellite visat services) Neology (rfid technology), Apolo (DTH) and Pegaso Tecnología.
He is member of the Board of the Media Lab, MIT, from 1992-1998. Manuel graduated with a Master of arts from the University of Southern California, Annenberg. (1975-76) School of communication. He also has a BA in Communication Sciences Tecnológico de Monterrey, (ITESM, México. (1970-75)
