Maria Shepherd has 20 years of leadership experience in medical device/life sciences marketing in small start-ups and Fortune 100 companies. Following an industry career including Vice President of Marketing for Oridion Medical, Director of Marketing for Philips Medical, and Boston Scientific, she founded Data Decision Group. She has served on the corporate board of the American Patient Safety Foundation.

Data Decision Group provides data, conclusions, and recommendations to answer key questions created by the opportunities and risks facing medical devices/life sciences companies.  This is accomplished through a highly experienced strategic marketing team using DDG’s unique in-depth clinical and industry knowledge. We synthesize and transfer clinical knowledge into actionable market strategy that can be rapidly and profitably integrated into client product development, marketing, sales and M&A.

Maria’s expertise is in data-driven decision making to create business and marketing excellence. Offering a rare blend of strategic and organizational strengths, Maria has achieved exciting company turnarounds and is recognized for growing sales and profits in her work as Vice President of Marketing for Oridion Medical, where she quickly delivered impressive bottom-line results.  She brought Oridion to record sales/profitability through major shifts in brand strategy, product design, marketing communications, and clinical education, and is known for her ability to quickly diagnose growth impediments and apply solutions supported by data.

Maria’s career in life sciences had significant impact on new technology ventures at Schleicher & Schuell (acquired by Whatman) and MSI, (acquired by GE). In senior marketing positions she led teams developing new products for molecular biology/genetic engineering research. 

Maria is an instructor for the WPI/MassMedic Medical Device Program, ComplianceOnline, IQPC and HCMA, to provide professional development for medical device/biotech managers.

Maria received her MBA, magna cum laude, from Babson College, cited by USA Today as the top US entrepreneurial program. Her BA is in Biology is from University of Pennsylvania.
