Since 2002, Mr. Borden has led the Employee Benefits U.S. Compliance & International Benefits function at Kohler Co.,a privately held multinational manufacturing corporation with more than 30,000 employees. Kohler Co. owns diverse business industry sectors involved in manufacturing, retail, hospitality, sales, and regional shared service centers. Mr. Borden has been responsible for ensuring all facets of the U.S. benefit programs are in compliance with federal and state regulations. As a project leader for international benefit plan projects with Kohler Co., he has monitored and analyzed non-U.S. health & welfare benefits, pension and retirement schemes and annual insurance renewal negotiations for Kohler businesses in over 30 countries.
Before joining Kohler Co., Mr. Borden served as Program Director with the Wisconsin Department of Employee Trust Funds. In that capacity he led a collaboration of small business and farm advocates, legislators, regulators, health insurance industry representatives, and researchers to lay the foundation for a statewide voluntary, private health insurance purchasing pool.
Mr. Borden holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin-Stout and the CEBS designation from the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Since first starting in the health care benefits field 23 years ago, he has worked as a National Accounts Director for First Health, a U.S. national managed care organization and as a consultant with Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, a fortune 500 accounting firm based in Madison, WI.
